Hodari Fined in Woman's Death

By Citizens for a Pro-Life Society Editors

Abortionist Alberto Hodari fined $10,000
in Death of Regina Johnson
Others Implicated in Her Death Also Disciplined

Michigan abortionist Alberto Hodari, was fined $10,000 for his role in the death of 32 year-old Regina Johnson who died from complications following a first trimester abortion performed upon her at Hodari's Womencare clinic in Lathrup Village, MI . The abortion was performed Sept. 17, 2003 by Dr. Milton Nathanson, then employed by Hodari, and Ms. Johnson died on Sept. 18th from "anoxic encephalopahy due to cardiac arrest." In addition to Hodari and Nathanson, anesthesiologist Barry Thompson and the abortion clinic's nurse, Cathy Litchig were also implicated in Ms. Johnson's death.

The Attorney General's office for the state of Michigan imposed the fine on Hodari March 4, 2009—but the penalty only recently became publically known.

The complaint against Hodari found him guilty of "negligence," "incompetence" and lacking in "good moral character."

Hodari paid the fine without contesting the Attorney General's "allegations of fact and law".

This finding of the Attorney General's office comes just one year after members of Citizens for a Pro-life Society discovered the remains of aborted babies in Womencare clinic trash dumpsters as well as bio-hazard waste and hundreds of patient records.(see www.prolifesociety.com) Hodari was investigated by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and received a warning from that office. He was also prosecuted by the Oakland County District Attorney's Office for violating Michigan statutes regarding the improper disposition of patient records. Hodari pled “no contest “ to the first of 12 counts and is currently on probation in that case.

A complaint filed by CPLS with the Michigan Bureau of Health Professions regarding the patient records issue is currently under review by the Attorney General. Thanks to research conducted by pro-life activist Lynn Mills, information (see item below) was found regarding the others responsible for Ms. Johnson's death. Nathanson submitted to retraining. Thompson and Litchig were both placed on probation for a period of time and also subjected to fines.

Monica Migliorino Miller, director of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society states: "$10,0000 seems such a small penalty to pay for the death of a human being. To Hodari this is pocket money. Let's not forget that Regina Johnson is not the first woman to die as a consequence of an abortion performed at Hodari's clinics, and yet this is all the penalty he receives. Let's also not forget that in addition to Regina 's death--we must also mark the death of her innocent baby. Two human beings were killed--not just one. We look forward to the day when Hodari's abortion centers are shut down and when the oppression of the unborn finally comes to an end."
