Anti-abortion activist James Poullion was one of two people murdered early
Friday morning. On Sunday, his family and friends held a memorial outside of the
high school where he was gunned down. Hundreds of people who supported his
efforts showed up to pay their respects to a man they call a hero.
Voices filled the air, singing songs of remembrance and sharing stories of James
Pouillon. Mary Jo Pouillon, Daughter: "My dad loved the lord and he loved the
unborn and he loved his family." Cal Zastrow, Friend: "It was an honor to know
Jim and he was very loved and respected by many people."
About 300 of those people showed up at Pouillon's memorial to remember his life
and all he stood for. Pouillon was known in the community for being a pro-life
activist, a stance his family said he was committed to whole-heartedly.
Pouillon's daughter: "His main goal in life was to get people to love
Jesus and
to help save the unborn."
And while the community remains in shock over Pouillon's death, many said they
needed to re-visit where his life was taken to begin healing. It was a final
farewell to a man who spent his life fighting for a cause he believed in.
